Tibag or Santacruzan is a historical religious activity of the Christians which started in the mid-1800's, it was first being held in Malolos, Bulacan. It is held to honor of Reyna Elena of Constantinople with his son, the great emperor Constantine finding the real Cross, the cross where Jesus Christ was crucified. It is a festival celebration all throughout the country, celebrated as one by prayers and offerings.

Before, Santacruzan was celebrated through parade or procession and will end up to the church, praying without ceasing and offers each of their personal intentions. The true essence and purpose of the event is to commemorate the finding of the True Cross, as well as the characteristics and virtues portrayed by each maiden. While it has turned into all-out pageant today, showing the luxurious gowns worn by the most gorgeous maidens picked in a community and instead of going to the church after the procession they tend to go in other places such as multipurpose gym in other barangay's.

We can witness the roles of every reynas that are highlighted in the parade. On the other hand we can be able to witness also the other roles taht plays a vital role in the parade. Ther we can witness: Methuselah, the old man who rides a cart while toasting grains of sand in a pan over fire, this reminds us that from dust we will return back to dust. Samaritana, the woman whom Christ spoke at Jacob's well, that represents and reminds us that the salvation is for all of us and not only for the faithful. Aeta, a member of tribal, it represents those group who embrace the Christian faith. And lastly Veronica, the woman who wiped the face of Jesus Christ, its veil imprints of the holy face of our savior Jesus Christ.

There are lots of changes in celebrating the event of Santacruzan, but one thing's never changed was our faith to our God. It doesn't matter how we celebrate the Tibag as long as you know what's the purpose of it and it is for all of us to remember that God let his begotten son Jesus Christ crucified at the cross for the sins he never commit. Jesus died for our sins and we should always remember that. Pray and repent for we don't know when he will come back again to judge the living and the dead. We should always look for the bright side, to look for the True Cross.
